1
The walk starts at the top of Boothbridge Lane in the middle of the village of Thornton in Craven. Walk down the hill towards Old Station House and the cricket field
2
The lane turns to the right, with the cricket field on your left.
3
Continue along the narrow lane to Boothbridge Farm.
4
Follow the tarmac road between the farm house and buildings. It then becomes a dirt track which crosses a stone bridge over Earby Beck. Go across the bridge and over the stile at the side of the metal field gate following the track .
5
Within 20m of going over the stile you want to be heading diagonally to your right, with Earby Beck on your right and the tree lined old track/cutting to your left. Climb the hill to the next field boundary towards the field gate.
6
To the top side of the field gate you will see a stile below some old thorn trees go through this into the next field.

7
Head arcoss the field towards the farm in the distance, Batty House.
8
You will come to 2 stiles close together in the next boundary fence. Climb them both and follow the fence line, keeping it to your right, towards the farm. You will walk around the side of Batty House and its out buildings to find a stile in the corner of the field at the side of a large tree.
9
Once you have climbed the stile turn right following the farm lane back towards Earby.
10
The lane forks, keep left towards Earby.
11

The lane will bring you out at the Red Lion Pub. Turn right for Earby

12

Continue down Red Lion Street which then becomes Water Street. At the junction turn right.

13
Walk down the main street passing Earby library and shops. Follow the road around the corner than runs between Wardle Storey's factories
14

After the bends you will see in front of you the lead mining museum. Turn right in front of the museum, keeping it on your left and Earby Beck on your right.

15
The road narrows and the forks. Take the left hand fork up a slightly sloped drive with houses on the left and the "Larma's Field" on your right
16
Keep on this drive passing in front of peoples homes. At the end of this drive the path narrows to single file and runs along Wardle Storey's boundary fence
17
You are now on the old railway bed. Turn right at the footpath sign, cross the new access road and back onto the old railway bed
18
You are now on the home straight. Just follow the old railway bed
19
Just keep going you are nearly back to Boothbridge Lane.
20
At the gates you are back to Boothbridge Lane. Turn right and go round again or left back up Boothbridge Lane to where you started from
